Obituary
Webmaster: Obituary will be posted when received.
(10/19/24) Webmaster: I was saddened to hear Capt. P.J. Smith, a true friend and supporter of vfp62.com for many years, had passed away. Down through the years, he contributed many photos and his unknown story about VFP-62's early and secret photoreconnaissance over Cuba before the Cuban Missile Crisis occured. I urge you to read his article: Before the October 1962 Flights,We Were Watching. You can find it on our "Cuban Missile Crisis" page.
Beyond that, he generously gave a donation to our recent fundrasier to extend vfp62.com on the web for ten more years. Unable to attend our VFP-62 reunions, P.J. sent money to help pay for our "Welcome Aboard dinner" at our Jacksonville reunion.
I also urge you to read his message on our "Guest Log" page 3 then scroll down to #61 to read more about his naval career. Rest in peace Sir.
Ken Jack, former PH2, VFP-62 1959-63
